Our Portuguese
coordinator, Monica Ferreira, and Headmaster of the school, Manuel Pereira,
gave a warming welcome to all the participating countries with an accordion
concert.
We were then given
a brief tour of the school, allowing us to see a number of different classes being
taught.
After coffee
break, Portuguese coordinator Monica Ferreira held a workshop for teachers and
pupils on Valentine’s handkerchiefs. Valentine's handkerchief is a handkerchief
made from a fine linen cloth or cotton scarf, embroidered with various motifs.
It is a piece of handicraft and clothing typical of the Minho, being used by
women of marriageable age.
After lunch at
school, teachers had activity Guest
teachers teach host pupils. Teachers from Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Spain and
Greece visited one class and taught pupils their language and about their
country.
Pupils had their
activity: learning traditional Portuguese song ‘’Ora ponha aqui o seu pezinho’’.
In the afternoon we walked through the beautiful
Cinfães, enjoying the culture and scenery along the way, to the Serpa Pinto
Museum.
The day was concluded with International dinner.
